Don't have a dual-channel wall switch but want to control two loads with just one? The SONOFF MINI DUO (MINI-2GS / MINI-ZB2GS) with its "Stepper Function" transforms your ordinary single-wall switch into a smart stepping relay — letting you control two loads from a single switch. 

Unlike traditional electromechanical stepping relays, which only offer a fixed cycling mode with no way to change the switching sequence, the SONOFF Stepper Function lets you customize the switching sequence for both loads. This gives you greater flexibility and allows the control logic to better match your real-world usage scenarios.

Compatible Switch Types

The Stepper Function on the SONOFF MINI-2GS and MINI-ZB2GS only supports two types of mechanical switches: Rocker switches and Momentary switches.

*Note: When When using a physical wall switch, the SONOFF MINI-2GS / MINI-ZB2GS must be set to the same switch type in the app. If they do not match, the operation may not respond as expected.

• Only the light ON
• Only the exhaust fan ON
• Both the light and exhaust fan ON

With the Inching Settings feature, you can set your exhaust fan and light to turn off at different times — for example, the light turns off after 2 minutes, while the fan keeps running longer.

How to Enable Stepper Function?

Wiring Method

Connect an external single-channel switch to either switch input (S1 or S2) on the MINI‑2GS / MINI‑ZB2GS.

 

Enable Stepper Function

Users can configure up to four Stepper modes, defining the switching sequence for the connected loads.

How does the SONOFF Stepper Mode Work?

The Stepper function on the SONOFF MINI-2GS and MINI-ZB2GSS provides two modes:

• Single-Press Mode  
• Double-Press Mode

These modes allow users to define how the switch controls the connected loads.

 

Single-Press Mode (Default)

In Single-Press Mode, each press cycles through the predefined load states, allowing users to switch between different combinations of the two loads.

*Note: If "Double-Press Mode" is not enabled, the device will operate in Single-Press Mode by default.

• Further single-press will cycle back to Step 1 and repeat the sequence.

 

Double-Press Mode

With traditional stepping relays, users often need to press the switch multiple times to turn everything off. Thanks to the Double-Press Mode of the SONOFF MINI-2GS/MINI-ZB2GS Stepper function, a single click turns off all loads — no more repeated pressing, making daily operation faster and more convenient.

In Double-Press Mode:

• Double-press to switch step
• Single-press to turn all off or restore the last step

 

Double-Press Mode Scene Simulation:

• Further double-press will cycle back to Step 1 and repeat the sequence.
• Single press after Step 3 (both lights turn on) → both lights turn off; single press again → return to Step 3 (both lights on).

 

Applicable Models

• MINI-2GS (Firmware v1.1.2 or later)
• MINI-ZB2GS (Firmware v1.0.7 or later)

⚠️ Notes

• When the Detach Relay function is enabled, the Stepper function will be automatically disabled to avoid functional conflicts.
• Ensuring MINI-2GS / MINI-ZB2GS's switch mode matches your wall switch, a mismatch may cause an unexpected operation.
• If "Double-Press Mode" is not enabled, the device will operate in Single-Press Mode by default.
