FAQ
1. What is the EU smart wall socket and how does it work?
The smart EU wall socket is a European-standard wall outlet, fixed and installed in the wall to power household appliances. It adds app control, energy monitoring, and automation, allowing you to manage appliances remotely and improve energy efficiency via Wi-Fi.
2. What types of smart wall sockets are used in European homes?
European homes mainly use Type F (Schuko) and Type E wall sockets. SONOFF flush-mounted wall socket is available in both types, ensuring compatibility with common European electrical standards.
3. Which smart home platforms is this EU smart wall socket compatible with?
SONOFF smart EU wall sockets are designed to integrate effortlessly with popular smart home platforms, like Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant. With Matter compatibility, you can control the smart wall outlet across different ecosystems and brands—without being locked into a single platform.
4. What is the maximum load capacity?
SONOFF smart wall sockets support a maximum load of up to 16A at 250V, making them suitable for most everyday household appliances. To ensure safe operation, please refer to the specifications of your specific model and confirm compatibility with the devices you plan to use.
5. Are these EU smart wall sockets safe to use?
Yes. SONOFF EU smart wall sockets are built to European standards and designed with multiple safety protections. They feature Overload Protection that automatically cuts off power if current, voltage, or wattage exceeds safe limits, helping prevent overheating and electrical hazards. In addition, the Overcharge Protection will automatically cut off the power supply once the device is fully charged, reducing battery wear while improving everyday safety and energy efficiency.
6. Can I control the socket remotely?
Yes. SONOFF smart in-wall socket can be controlled remotely using a Matter-compatible smart home app or platform (such as Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, Home Assistant, SmartThings). This allows you to turn devices on or off from anywhere, set schedules or timers, and integrate with other smart home devices for automation.
7. Is voice control supported?
Absolutely. SONOFF smart EU wall socket works with major voice assistants such as Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home, through Matter integration, so you can control connected devices with simple voice commands.
8. Where can I use this smart wall power socket?
SONOFF smart EU wall socket is designed for indoor use and fits standard European Type E and Type F wall boxes. It's ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, offices, and any space where you want smart control and power monitoring for plugged-in appliances.
9. What appliances are suitable for the smart EU wall electrical socket?
You can use this smart socket with most resistive loads (such as lamps, TVs, routers, chargers) or other small‑power inductive loads (like fans). It supports a maximum load up to 16A (4000W), but always check your appliance's rated power before use.
10. What wiring requirements should I be aware of during installation?
This smart European wall socket requires a Live wire and a Neutral wire for operation, and a Ground wire is required for proper safety protection. As the smart socket supports a maximum working current of 16A, the Live, Neutral, and Ground wires connected to the socket must each have a minimum cross-sectional area of 2.5 mm². Using correctly rated wiring helps ensure safe operation and prevents overheating.
11. How to install smart socket in the wall?
To install smart wall socket safely and correctly, follow these steps:
- Prepare the device: Use a screwdriver to pry off the switch cover at the notches located on the back.
- Safety first: Ensure the power is turned off before beginning any wiring.
- Wiring: Identify the wires (confirming a neutral wire is present) and connect them according to the wiring diagram, ensuring all screws are tightened.
- Placement: Insert the device into the wall box, making sure the raised corner aligns with the power symbol.
- Pairing: Turn the power back on and scan the QR code via your app. If the indicator isn't flashing correctly, long-press the button for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode
12. Why is the touch button on my smart EU wall socket not responding after installation?
This is usually caused by misalignment between the panel button and the power module during installation. Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
- Power off and disassemble: First, disconnect the power supply to the socket, then remove the faceplate from the wall.
- Check alignment: Use the eWeLink App to scan the QR code on the device body to view the correct installation orientation of the socket cover.
- Reassemble: Reinstall and secure the faceplate in the correct orientation.
13. Can the smart wall socket be used with an extension cord or power strip?
Yes, but for safety:
- Ensuring the total power draw of all connected devices does not exceed the outlet's rating (16A/4000W).
- Use a certified power strip with overload protection.
- Avoid running multiple high-power appliances simultaneously for extended periods.
