I bought this to replace an underpowered controller, which kept losing ZigBee devices (especially battery-powered devices).

I've been using SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus for a few weeks now and I haven't had a single drop-out. Long may that continue.

Exactly what I wanted

This is a simple, nicely-made Zigbee dongle that comes loaded with Zigbee 3.0 firmware. So far, it's working great with Home Assistant's Zigbee integration and Sonoff's SNZB-02P temperature/humidity sensor.

This was my first time ever using Zigbee. I had some trouble when Home Assistant tried to set up the Zigbee network, but these tips I found online were really helpful:

1. Don't put the dongle right next to a Wi-Fi access point. My Home Assistant PC sits right next to my router, so I used a USB extension cable to move the dongle about 4 feet away from the router.

2. When setting up the dongle in Home Assistant, take the antenna off the dongle before clicking "create new network." Then, put the antenna back on the dongle when setup is finished.

When I used those two tips, the Zigbee setup process went smoothly. Everything after that was a breeze!
